Herbal Poems of Long Winter Nights, IV: Gorse
by Fanny Mae
16th January 2026
Those places inside
those places damp, cold, faraway forgotten
let them have
a little sun
Those places made numb
by early dusks
endless grey
another rainy day
places hidden in the folds of the longest night
Let them have
a little light
There is a clemency
to this midwinter morning sun
that reaches
even the most
skittish
of shadows
